2003 TOURNAMENT SET FOR FEBRUARY 22-23 AT LURAY LANES IN ASHLAND
This will make the 7th year of the COORS LIGHT CUP, which brings it back to Luray Lanes in Ashland. The last time the COORS LIGHT CUP was at Luray Lanes it was a real fight ending in an 11-11 tie! Team Ashland retained the cup as a result of holding the cup from the previous year. |
NEW LADIES VERSION OF THE COORS LIGHT CUP ADDED
This year will be the debut of the ladies tournament. It will be called the COURTESY AUTO MALL CLASSIC and will be held February 15 & 16 also at Luray Lanes. Having the ladies and mens tournaments on back-to-back weekends will give all bowling fanatics in Ashland, Mansfield, and all surrounding counties 2 weekends of AWESOME HEAD-TO-HEAD BATTLING!! |
SPONSORS A BIG PART OF COORS LIGHT CUP
This is a tournament that costs the qualifying bowlers nothing to bowl! That means that the cost of the bowling has to be met through sponsors. In the mens tourney, a total of 260 games are bowled throughout the weekend. That comes out to a bunch of money paid out to the bowling alleys. Thanks to The Bissman Co. and Metal Conversions/CMB, along with funds brought in from 50/50 drawings, last years mens COORS LIGHT CUP was a huge success! The ladies tournament will be FULLY FUNDED by COURTESY AUTO MALL!! Neither of these tournaments would be possible if it weren't for these great sponsors and it can't be put into words how greatly appreciated their help means!!
HOW DO BOWLERS QUALIFY??
Qualifying for the COORS LIGHT CUP is done through leagues in the 4 bowling centers(Park, Lex, King, & Luray). The 8 highest averages as of the cut-off date, which will be determined at a later date, from Mansfield(Park 6, Lex 2) and Ashland(King 5, Luray 3) automatically qualify. The bowler from each county with the highest average will be deemed as the captain of his team and will then pick 2 more bowlers from his county to make their 10-man team. No bowler who resides in the opposing county may bowl on the that team;i.e. a person can't bowl against the team from the county that they actually live in. If a bowler resides outside of both counties, then he can bowl on either team but has to be a regular bowler in one of the houses in that county. |

Check the 'ABOUT PAGE' for updated averages as of December 25!!
